Is Affiliate Marketing from South Africa even Possible?
As a fellow South African I was also very interested in this whole make money online idea. I bought a couple of programs online that was supposed to teach me how to make money. I failed with each one of them and I was almost at that point where I wanted to give up on this whole “learn affiliate marketing from South Africa” idea.
I am now an affiliate marketer for more than a year now and I results are staggering. I never though that I was going to be able to make it as I did not have the experience and guidance on my side. All of this is thanks to a training community and service that led me to my success.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
In a nutshell affiliate marketing is where you can promote products from companies such as Amazon, Clickbank, Linksahre, Share a sale and more other private affiliate networks. These companies were smart enough to realize the potential of the online space and so they went for it.
Once you join these companies as an affiliate, they will provide a special tracking link to you. Now your work is to send people to that link with the hope that they will buy one of the products that is on the website of the company.
Depending on the company, you will earn a commission from each sale that you make. The commission rates ranges from 4% up to 50% depending on the type of product that you are promoting.
Potential of affiliate marketing
I know that this section will definitely excite you a lot because the potential is endless. There is literally no limit to the amount of money that you can potentially make with affiliate marketing.
Do you want to make $10 a day or $1000 a day? It is very possible to make this amount of money and all you need to do is to work hard with persistence and you will eventually reach that level.
How South Africans can benefit from this
1. How to get paid
I never knew that this was possible and it took me while to get my head around this idea of making money from my computer in South Africa. My biggest concern was that I was getting paid in Dollars and I did not know the process of how to convert that currency into Rand value.
After a couple of months I figured it all out. You see, most affiliate networks are willing to pay you via your PayPal account. Below are the steps that you must take in order to get paid.
- Get a golden check account from FNB
- Make sure that you can do internet banking (register at your nearest FNB branch)
- Create a PayPal account.
- Link your PayPal account to your FNB check account. (Let someone at FNB assist you with it)
- Once your PayPal account is linked to your FNB Check account you are ready to go.
You also have the option of getting paid via check, but I am not a big fan of it. At first I tried to use checks and I only received one out of the 6 checks that one of these companies sent me.
It looks like you cannot put your faith in the mailman anymore.
2. Get more bang for your buck
From a recent study I found that the average affiliate marketer is making more than $2000 per month. Do you guys know how much that is?
Let me put this into more perspective. The rand is currently R15.48 for each $1. So $2000 per month will be equal to R30951.40 per month. Most South Africans will get a heart attack if they could make that much per month.
How would you feel if you could make more than R30 000 per month? To make it even better for you $2000 per month is nothing compared to how much some affiliate marketers are making.
I know a couple of persons that are making more than $10 000 per month and that is just after 2 years of hard work.
Enough of the numbers, let’s get practical
I hope you now realize the amount of money that you can make with affiliate marketing, but just how do you do this? Have you ever noticed that if you work for money, you will always have to work for money.
I do not know about you, but that is how my brain was programmed from the society. Finish high school, get a good grade and then get a good and safe job (I think we all can agree how hard it is to get a job in SA).
Through all my online struggles I finally found a way to create a business model that will make the money for me instead. I noticed that some of the articles that you read on Google were written more than 5 years back and this made me thinking.
I realized that if you can create a blog or website and then sell affiliate products on them, then I could make a decent income from the internet.
I only had one problem
I did not know how to build a website in order to sell affiliate products. After a while of trial and error I came across a website that actually teaches you how to build a website from scratch and then how to get visitors to it from Google.
I was stunned and I never knew it was that easy to create a website on the internet these days. I had my ups and down and now I make more than $300 which is R4643.67 per month and the best part of it all is that I did not touch that website since January 2015 and the today’s date is 17 February 2016.
I touched that website longer than a year ago and it is still making money for me. This means that I am making R4000 plus a month from that website in passive income.
