Is Doterra a scam that you should look out for?
When it comes to companies such as this one, where there is a make money online opportunity, then this question will always arise. There are so many scams online that it is hard to keep track of all of them. But for now we are going to look into Doterra on whether it is a scam or.
Just keep in mind that even though a company is not a scam that you should do what is best for YOU and nothing else. Where will you fit into the picture and where do you see yourself in 1 or maybe 2 years. Will you make a significant income from this company? Maybe because it all depends on you.
Are there any other ways to make money on the side or maybe to go fulltime with? Definitely because there are 100’s of ways to make an income online, but later in this article I will tell you how you can earn a passive income from the comfort of your own home. In this review I will give you all of the information that you need in order to determine for yourself whether it is a scam or not.
It is very important to know the products before you meditate on the compensation plan. For an MLM company to be worthwhile, they need to have good and useful products. There also needs to be a demand for the product which in this case there is not.
Let us dig a bit into their products:
They have a whole list of different types of oils that you can choose from. You can choose from Ginger, Lavender, Basil, Coriander oils etc.
I did some market research online to determine whether there really is a big demand for these types of products. I came to the conclusion that there is a low to moderate demand for these types of products. There is only 500 people that are searching for “where can I buy essential oils”.
This is not a lot of people if you ask me.
Doterra Compensation plan
The next thing that we need to take a look at is the compensation plan. The driving force of any MLM is the recruitment of new people into your downline. So if the compensation plan is not easy to understand then, how can you “promote” this money making opportunity? Remember that your enrollees need to understand the plan in order to build their own group or downline. The compensation plan falls into 2 categories:
1. Advocate Level (Direct Selling)
This level allows you to sell the products directly to your customers. It does not involve any recruitment and if you know about a group of people that might be interested in essential oils, then you might be in luck. You will earn a commission rate of 25% from each product that you can sell. You also need to have a monthly personal volume of 50 PV to stay qualified.
2. Member Recruitment
This is the 2nd way to earn an income from Doterra and it is also where all of the complicated levels start. Each level has its own requirement and benefits to start with and it is up to you and your team to reach these levels. You will need to generate a monthly PV of 100 to move on to the next level which is the manager’s level.
Your team also needs to generate overall volume for you to move up. This is called the OV or overall volume and includes the volume from your entire team. As your OV increases, you will move up in ranks.
To reach Premier level, you need to have at least 2 qualified legs and each one needs to be at a specific level to qualify. So as you can see, it will take a long time for you to reach these levels and you are mostly reliant on your sales force to reach them.
Do I recommend Doterra?
My answer is going to be no because of the products, compensation plan also because of the fact that I simply do not like MLM companies in general. There are simply not enough demand for the products because you cannot walk up to a person and ask him or her to buy essential oils from you.
The products make it difficult and I have not even elaborated on the compensation plan. For me the plan has too many levels and the requirements are very hard to reach in order to get to those levels. My problem is that you are dependant on your downline to make enough sales for you to reach these levels.
If you have a lazy sales group, then you can kiss your growth in the company goodbye. I want to be in full control over my business and do not want other people to limit my growth so that I cannot reach my full potential. Luckily there are other business models that will also earn you a passive income online.
My preferred method
I have been involved with 2 MLM companies in the past and though I made little money with them, I did not make any significant income from it and my income never succeeded my expenses. I almost gave up on the idea of trying to start my own online business until I came across Affiliate Marketing.
Affiliate Marketing is where you can sell products from other companies through building a website (that is the way I do it). Firstly I will go and choose a niche that has not been that saturated and then I will build a website around it. After a while I will start to get visitors to my websites and they will have the option of buying products from me.
In order to do this, I will simply refer them to online stores such as Amazon, E-bay, Linkshare and Clickbank. There are also other more private companies that you can join that are more specific in the type of products that they promote.
BUT this is where the beauty of building websites comes into play. For each website that you have built, you will earn a passive income from it. I see it as shares that you have bought into Google and now you are making money from it. Once your website is finished it will earn money for you on autopilot. This will then allow you to build more of these websites.
There is also no limit to the amount of websites that you can build and you can also build them as big as you want to.
