Is Melaleuca A Scam That Will Rip You Off?
Products: Health and Wellness, weight loss, etc.
Do you know that majority of Multi-Level Marketing companies don’t really work? The fact is that the structure of most of these companies makes it difficult for ordinary people like us to earn any significant money. From different levels of difficulty to different compensation plans, reselling and promoting different products, there is just so much to take in.
In this review, I am going to try to help you decide whether Melaleuca will scam you or not. And the reason why you can’t get an answer straight away for the question above is because, we have to look at some facts that will help us to establish whether this company is fake or not.
Melaleuca has been in the industry for some time and most people already have an opinion about what it means to join a company like this. In fact, you may have heard about Melaleuca before, either through buying organic products or through reading reviews of some other MLM products.
Melaleuca sells all things organic. As a wellness company, Melaleuca want to be at the forefront of the battle to help people go green. However, the strange thing about this is that going green the way this company advertises can be quite expensive. You have to buy a lot of organic products that you may not actually need and for you to make money, you need to sell these to other people. One thing is clear here, and that is, you have to spend more to stay with Melaleuca.
This firm engages in the sale of many health and wellness products that I cannot list all of them here. However some of the most prominent among its products are:
- Vitamins and Supplements
- Energy Drinks
- Weight Loss Supplements
- Batch Products
- Oral Care
- Household cleaners
- Skincare products
Most of the distributors for Melaleuca are expected to sell these products and meet a particular threshold every month. However, there is a prerequisite for different levels and each level has its own percentage of commission that distributors can earn from the sale of a particular product. For instance, if you are in level one you will be entitled to 15% commission on any sales, and this can increase as you progress to higher levels, although, higher levels are associated with difficult requirements.
The structure of the compensation plan is based on a point system. This means that there is a down line and an up line in every level. The down line is the people you have introduced into the system while the up line is the person who introduced you into the system. In addition, your earning potential entirely depends on the number of people you can bring into the system as well as the number of products you can sell in any given month.
Since each person is billed every month, it then means that every member in your group will contribute to your monthly commission. If you have 20 people in your down line, then you can expect to earn some commission when they are charged at the end of the month. The same thing happens with your up line, he or she will also get a percentage when you buy something. This process is supposed to continue like this every month for you to get a piece of the pie.
Should You Join Melaleuca?
One of the most important things you need to learn before joining this company is how much it costs. And I will add that how much it costs to maintain because you have to maintain your membership by either introducing more people or buy products that will total $80+ every month.
As I have mentioned above, you need a total of 35 points every month to maintain your membership. In order to get this, you need to introduce new members. If you can’t introduce new members, you have to buy products that will equal the points required. While this may look normal to you, with careful practical analysis, you will see that it is a very carefully planned scheme that may not be favorable to you. If you are not able to meet any of these requirements, then you will not be earning any money but you will be charged every month.
When you look at it, is Melaleuca a program you might want to join?
Why I Prefer Affiliate Marketing Over MLM
I prefer affiliate marketing because if I join an MLM company, I will be stuck with only one niche that might be boring. In this case, the niche diversity is limited with MLM. However, affiliate marketing allows me to engage in as many niches as possible. The world is mine for the taking while I follow my passion.
Another thing that would make me want to ditch MLM business is the very high costs associated with joining any of the companies. I need to buy all the products they have before I can promote them. On the other hand, with affiliate marketing, I don’t need to buy any product before trying to sell them to other people. I love this part because, it allows me to go after my passion while I keep recommending the products I find useful along the way. And there is not going to be any obstacle if I want to recommend those I have not used before.
The reasoning behind the point above is simple. When people need something, they are going to try to find it. In fact, they will appreciate anyone that can help them find it. The reason why people go online is to solve their problem. If they can find someone who is willing to recommend the product or opportunity that will help them solve the problem, it is simply a matter of accepting and following up with such recommendations.
