Here is where it gets very practical and in this module I will teach you how to make your articles relevant in such a way that Google will love. There are specific things that you can do on your articles that will make them rank better in Google and I am going to dedicate an entire module on just that.
Sometimes you have to put your keyword (The keyword research module will come later in this course so do not worry too much about how to find keywords at this moment) in specific places to make sure that Google will know exactly what your website is about. This will significantly increase your overall rankings so make sure that you go through this whole module.
Also feel free to Bookmark this article if you ever feel stuck as where to put your keywords.
I am also going to put them in steps so that you can make sure that you are using them. So let’s say that you have found a keyword that you want to target in your article and let’s say that this keyword is “Best hunting knives for beginners“.
Step 1.
Make sure that you have All in one SEO installed and that your cannonical URLs are ticked. This will make sure that your title and permalink will stay the same. Once this is done, then you never have to set this up again for your website.
The training inside Wealthy Affiliate can help you with that.
Step 2.
Put your keyword in you meta title
This is the most important relevancy signal that you can send to Google about what your article is about. You will also notice that I have put “So You Don’t Cut Yourself” after the keyword. I try to make my title sound very catchy and interesting so that more people will click on it.
Step 3.
Put your keyword somewhere within your first paragraph. Make sure that it blends in with what you want to say. You can also bold the keyword to make it stand out more.
Step 4.
Once you upload an image (make sure the image is compressed) then you can also put the keyword in you your alt text. This will not only tell Google that your article is about best hunting knives for beginners, but that also one of your images.
Step 5.
Write your article naturally and try not to use the keyword more than what is necessary. There is only one more place to put your keyword and that is the meta description. This section can be found at the bottom of your finished article.
Only put your keyword in the meta description and avoid the title because you have already put your keyword there. Make sure that your meta description is interesting and eye catching because this is the first part that your visitor will see.
Conclusion
As you can see, I only used the keyword 3 times on my article and once on my meta description. I did not overuse my keyword because I do not want to my readers to feel awkward when they read my articles.
