Directory of Ezines 2.0 Summary
Website: directoryofezines.com
Cost: $197
Rating: 3/10
We all know that you cannot make an income online without targeted high quality traffic and there is also a ton of traffic sources to consider when trying to promote your offer. I assume that you are currently struggling to get traffic to your website or you have a very small email list that you want to expand.
You then came across the Directory Of Ezines because you want to get traffic from solo ads. I tried this program before and did not have success with it. I was still very new at that stage and I have to admit that I still had shiny object syndrome during that time.
What is DOE 2.0?
This is a platform where you will have access to hundreds of ezines that will allow you to send solo ads to their mailing list. There are a lot of ezines in a variety of niches where you have to potential to find untapped traffic. There is also a potential downside to this way of doing internet marketing and will discuss each one of them below.
What I liked
1. Training
I really like the fact that this product has some training on how to send these solo ads. This training will provide modules on copy writing, email advertising, conversion rate optimization and some other strategies on how to make money.
2. Community
There is also a community where you will get help if you need any. There are people available for joint ventures and consulting from Charlie Page who is the owner of this Directory
3. Discounts
This is probably the main benefit of this product as you will receive a discount on the packages that you buy which will pay back the $197 over and over again.
What I did not liked
1. Cannot test the ezines
The first thing that I did not like was that you cannot really “test” the ezines before you pay them. I have never seen an ezine that has packages of different sizes and this can lead to problems.
Let me explain
For any type of paid media, you want to have the ability to test the traffic source with a small amount of money before you can think about scaling up. The reason for this is that you want to determine your ROI (return on investment) before you scale.
If you have a negative ROI, then why would you want to spend more money on that traffic source? If you have a positive ROI, then you have the green light to scale by paying more.
Some ezines have packages that will cost you $500 for let’s say a circulation of 100 000 subscribers. This makes it impossible to test small because $500 is a lot of money to test a campaign. The only way to counter this problem is if these Ezines had smaller packages to test the list before going for $500.
As a result these ezines will be a hit and miss scenario.
2. No statistical information
This makes it very hard to determine the response of the list because how will you know which ezine is worth testing?
This is what I mean.
Let’s say you pay $50 for a circulation of 15 000 emails then you need to look at metrics such as email response which is the amount of people that are actively going into their emails each day. Then you need to look at your email open rate which is the amount of people that are opening your emails.
I know that auto responders such as Aweber and Get Response have a platform where you can look at this metric, but I do not think that the ezines will give you this.
Another metric to consider is your click through rate and this is the amount of people that are actually clicking on the link that is inside of the mail that you are sending.
As you can see there are a couple of metrics to test and optimize because things such as your subject line and solo ad copy have a significant impact on your conversion rate. Can you test this with $500 or more?
Is Directory of Ezines for you?
If you are someone that already has somewhat experience in solo ad marketing, then it might be for you. I personally think that some of these ezines will aid you in getting some untapped traffic sources and there are ezines available in different niches as well.
On the other hand, if you are very new to internet or affiliate marketing and of you have a small budget then I would not recommend this for you.
As I mentioned before, you need to be able to test small in order to successfully scale your campaign and the large single packages make it impossible to do this. To be able to be successful for any type of paid advertising, you need to be able to test small and scale big when you find that sweet spot.

How I do Affiliate Marketing
As they say, there are many ways to skin a cat and the same goes for getting traffic for affiliate marketing. You have access to social media, ppc, ppv, seo, solo ads and many more. The method that I use is building a blog that is centered around a niche.
The reason why I focus on this method is that each article that you write on your website has the potential to rank on the first page of Google for a specific phrase or keyword.
This will allow thousands of visitors to see your website on a daily basis and did I forget to mention that the traffic is for free and will also allow your website to receive traffic for years to come in a passive nature.

Today I am still getting traffic from articles that I have written more than a year ago which results in me getting a passive income from the comfort of my own home.
Great info and i was thinking about getting directory of ezines 2.0 but i use that money on another offer
I don’t agree with you. I’ve been a member of the DOE for a few years now and I would recommend it to anyone. Solo ads are not to only way to use ezines. you can write articles for an ezine and have them publish it. which costs you nothing and can get you a lot of new customers. You didn’t really investigate it throughly. And I would suggest you try again and try using some of the help available to learn how to get some of the smaller solo ads, if that’s what you want to do. Or, use the ezines in some other way.
Hi Becka.
Thanks for the comment. I tried the DOE before and contacted several ezines to place a smaller solo ad. Most of the owners of these Ezines did not want to give me a smaller solo ad.
Yes, I agree that there are many ways to make money with Ezines. You can buy solo ads, get a backlink to your website (which is outdated a long time ago) or you can get referral traffic to your website.
The last time I checked the DOE only gave training on how to buy solo ads. Some people might experience success with it to some agree, but not me.
