Younique Product Review
Products: Beauty Products for women (Mainly Makeup)
Is Younique a scam?
Is Younique just one of those MLM companies that are duplicates of other or is it really unique. The name itself implies that it is indeed “younique” or unique. Does the name really resemble with the company? What can we look at to see wither this company is legit or a scam and whether it is really worth it to try out.
There are several things to keep in mind and I say this with all of my MLM reviews. The first thing that we should look at is the products. Are the products of good quality? Are they really unique? And lastly are cheaper than the products that you can find in your local store.
An MLM company is just as good as its products and compensation plan and if either of them is failing, then you have a lesser chance to succeed with them if you decide to build a business around them. In short I am going to say that Younique is not a scam, but read further if you have not already decided to join.
It is very important to look at the product on whether they will perform well in the market for which they are intended for. What makes Younique unique (sorry for the deja vu) is that they are lazar targeting only one very specific niche which is makeup.
They do not sell stuff such as soaps and Aromatic oils and only focuses on makeup which makes them highly specialized. It can also cause several problems because now this niche is only focused on women (only some men like to be that open minded). This makes your niche very targeted which has its positive and negative aspects as well.
Here is a list of some of the products that you can find:
- Eye liners
- Eye shadows
- Makeup remover
- Lash and brow enhancer
- Lip gloss
- Lip liner
- Skin toners and moisturizers
- Tools to use the makeup with
- Collections and sets
Sorry that I cannot explain each product in detail because it is little bit Greek to me. Now I know why women tend to take a bit longer than men to get ready for the day 🙂
Overall I do not think that the products are that bad and if you have a couple of girlfriends that love makeup then you might have a shot. For us men, I sincerely apologize.
Younique Compensation plan
The biggest thing that I look at when it comes to the compensation plan is the simplicity of it. If it is a very complex plan that has a ton of levels and requirements for these levels, then it can become a problem. Youngevity’s compensation plan is moderate in the sense of simplicity, which makes it OK.
This is about the first time I saw that a compensation plan uses colours to give it a name and I found it very interesting. The diagram is also very easy to understand which is a bonus.
There are 2 main ways to earn money from this compensation plan:
1. Direct sales
You will first start off as a White Presenter that will earn 20$ commissions for all the sales that they make. To qualify as a white presenter you need to sell at least $250 worth in products in just 3 months. When you have finally sold at least a $1000 worth of products then you will reach the level Yellow which will allow you to make 25% commissions from your personal sales.
2. Team sales
Here is where the recruitment phase comes into play. To get to this phase, you need to at least have reached the Yellow level to progress to the following. The first level you must have in order to earn team commissions is the Pink level.
When you are in level Yellow and you decided to enroll presenters to your team and you + your team have generated $2500 worth of wholesale sales and you have at least one active presenter, then you will hit the level Pink. Once you are Pink, then you will earn 3% from circle royalties.
There are in total 8 levels that you can reach:
As you evolve from level 1 to 8, you will start to earn from more generations deep. The plan is moderately digestible and not that hard to understand.
Is Youngevity the company for you?
Are you man enough to sell these products (just kidding)? Now let’s get serious. The products look good but it is very focused because it only sells makeup. More than 90% of women are wearing makeup, so there is enough demand to sell these products.
The compensation plan is also not that complicated and was quite easily to understand. The reason why simplicity plays a key role in my rating for these MLM companies is because you only have about 15 minutes to get this plan into your prospects head.
If your prospect could not digest and understand the plan in that time frame, then they are less likely to enroll under you. Remember that they also need to explain this plan to their prospects so this is very important. The company looks good and that is why I am going to give it a 6/10. I am not such a big fan of MLM in general and this is why I am not part of it.
MLM is a hard business to get into and if you do not have your own way to promote the products or comp plan then it might not work for you. You are entirely dependent on your team to grow your business which is something that I do not like. Luckily there are other ways to earn a passive income from your home.
Affiliate marketing vs MLM
Building an online business with affiliate marketing has become much easier that it was before. Affiliate marketing is where you promote products from companies such as Amazon, Clickbank and Linkshare. There are other more private companies as well and when you manage to sell one of the products, you will earn a commission.
There is no need to recruit a downline, recruit family and friends because you promote the products through the internet. First of all you need to be able to build a website and write articles inside of your website. Today it is very easy to build a website because of WordPress (which is a content manager).
You can also scale your business with ease and you are not reliant on another group of people to build your business. Your websites will also earn you a passive income online which is awesome. It will make money for you while you sleep and it can make money for you for months on a time without your involvement. You just need to set them up and watch how they rake in the dollars.
There is also no limit to the size and amount of the websites that you plan to build.
